Alexandra Lloyd

During her time as a student in Oxford, Alex sang with a number of ensembles. Since taking up the post of Lecturer in German at Magdalen College and St Edmund Hall, Alex has continued to perform regularly as a soloist. Her operatic roles include Papagena/First Boy (Die Zauberflöte), Cleopatra (Giulio Cesare), and Semele (Semele), as well as scenes as Susanne (The Marriage of Figaro) and Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) in masterclasses with Donald Maxwell and Graham Vick at New Chamber Opera.

During the current academic year she is the co-convener of a research network exploring the interaction of music and words in the nineteenth- and twentieth-century European song tradition, sponsored by The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities.

Alex is playing Mrs Grose in our upcoming production of The Turn of the Screw.
